🌿 Understanding our Nervous System 

Our nervous system responds to what feels safe - this is not weakness or failure, its physiology. When something in the present rhymes with the past, the body responds as if the old story is happening all over again, it tries to protect.

We respond before we can reflect, shrink before understanding why, keep the peace, stay small, stay alert or lash out and defend  - old strategies that once kept us  safe, still echoing through adult situations that no longer require them.
We are simply disconnected from our true self — the part of us that feels calm, confident, and at peace.
It’s still there, waiting beneath the layers of self-doubt,  negative beliefs, and old stories about not being enough that our nervous system is holding onto.
